Happy New Year!!

Hello all!

I have a few minutes of "free" time before heading to bed so I thought I would check in here. So since we last spoke, Christmas break has come and gone, I have had a birthday, and classes started back! Whew that is a lot!

First with Christmas break. I was able to go home for all of break and it was lovely to have some time away from classes! Mom and I went to FL again this year as usual to spend about a week with Nanny, Pa, Aunt Jill, and Uncle Duane. Dad wasn't able to come due to work projects but he did take off when we got home. I was actually really excited to have time to spend just the three of us! I went on a couple campus visits for Nursing School in the middle TN area so we will have to see where that goes. Oh yea, everyone except Aunt Jill ended up sick at some point around Christmas/ New Year's but we all survived.

This year ETSU gave me the BEST birthday present EVER!!! Classes started on it :( Oh well, I guess the last semester of my (first) BS degree is enough of a gift. Speaking of classes, they have been INTENSE!! I feel like I am back in High School. I go in around 8:15 and leave between 3:30 and 4:30 most days. It is interesting to get used to that is for sure. I should survive alright I just need to have my books actually arrive which is a WHOLE different story!

Last thing I have time for tonight, my birthday! I LOVE BIRTHDAYS!!!! This year Jesse was able to come down on my birthday which was the first time I was able to see him since BEFORE break! We went by the train club where one of the guys had gotten me a cupcake so they all sang to me. They are just too cute! Then we went out to dinner at O'Charley's which was fantastic! Since the weekend after my bday just happened to be MLK weekend I had my friends party Sunday night. I made a crock pot full of chili and a cake and cupcakes! Before you go asking "now why would you work so hard for your own birthday party?" let me just say I had a blast making everything! I actually had several friends over Saturday to "help" make cake...and icing (which turned into a HUGE deal). We'll just leave it at there was LOTS OF ICING! Sunday after we ate we just played games. I had SUCH a great time and I am glad everyone was able to come!

So I think that about wraps up the update for tonight. I am going to try to play with the background and such since it is still Christmas but no promises it will be how I want it by bed time.

Hey everyone!

I sort of got a little busy and havent updated in a while...obviously! So I've been studying and running around like a chicken with my head cut off so I really dont feel like doing much of an update at this point. BUT

I would say we had almost an inch on the cars and a pretty good covering on most of the grass. The much was more covered. But it is all mostly melted now. The sun came out. I think we may be supposed to get some more here the rest of the weekend off and on.

It was SOOO PRETTY!! Huge flakes! (sorry the pics arent that great, I had to take them out the kitchen window while a friend was asleep on the couch in the living room.)

YAY SNOW!!

Week 3 Check!

Hello again,

Since I got some feedback last week, I guess I should keep going with these updates!

I am thinking I should actually work on these posts as they happen. I feel like I had a lot to say daily and had great plans for this blog but instead I am just tired at this point and have little to say...That and it is now TUESDAY of week 4!

Anyway I have a little energy left and people are making strange noises outside my window so I am going to attempt a post!

Last week I spent A LOT of time in the library. I thought I would take a picture while I was there so you could see how spread out I was but I always forgot while I was there. But I was and I was productive...I promise! If you don't believe me just look at the blanket I worked on while reading! I started it last Sunday and have this much done!

I have mainly been working on it while reading for class since that seems to keep me a little more focused and a little before classes start.

Anywho I spent almost 2.5 hours studying with a friend for our A&P 1 test on Friday and I did take pictures of our drawings and notes. This is Mary's picture of a neuron...Much prettier than mine but both still fit the need. Sorry it is sideways, but you get the picture...

Warren will be happy to hear that I now have a pet. He is a beta fish named Frank. (Warren was a little upset back in July when he found out I didn't even have a fish for a pet.) It was time for a new beta. It has been several months since Eugene went to fishy heaven and I am glad to have something to talk to at any time again... yes I am one of those crazy folks who talk to their fish. I think he likes it. He doesn't like to have his picture taken though. He gets all upset...which makes for a good picture when he is all fanned out. But that is beside the point. Alright, enough about Frank. I may give you updates about him periodically we'll see.

The most exciting thing that happend this past week was my training at Small Miracles Theraputic Equestrian Center, Inc. It was so neat to hear some of the stories about children who have and continue to be in the program. There are children who take their first steps and say their first words after being on a horse! These are children who are AT LEAST 4 years old! I can't imagine being there to experience one of these "firsts" but I am so excited about getting to be a part of the program. I will start October 18th going every Monday to be a side walker for one of the lessons! This means that depending on the student I may have a hand on the saddle or just walk along side of the horse while the instructor tells the student to do certain tasks such as turning the horse, tossing a ball, etc. I am excited to be a part of their Holiday session which lasts for 8 weeks! If you can't tell I am looking forward to starting my "service learning" and I will for sure post updates as I actually start going to help with lessons!

I think that is about it for last week. Sorry I didn't get anything up sooner. It was a long busy week last week just like every week has been!

Week 2

Study break time!

So maybe I will try to update here weekly. But for me to do that I need to know people are reading so leave me some comments folks!

Monday I cooked. A LOT! I made 4 different hamburger meat dishes in about an hour! I now have nearly a month's worth of frozen meals! Tuesday night I cooked up some chicken marinated in terioki sauce and froze another 5 meals! All I have to do is boil the food and cook noodles or get out something for a side dish and dinner is done! And I have found some of my portions have been more than one meal's worth so that has been fun and exciting too! If you can't tell I am totally in love with the idea of not having to actually cook which you will see why in the following paragraph.

This week I have basically determined I am going to be a recluse for the semester! Basically I go to class and then to the library between class then home to read. I have done really well so far keeping up with the reading for classes and may actually get to start some of my papers this week since I am about to start reading some more to get ahead for the week!

Thursday I met Jesse and the train club guys for dinner but didnt go to the club for work night. I was really overwhelmed with everything on Wednesday so I took an extra couple hours to study instead of going to the club. But dinner was a nice break. Friday afternoon I went to the local Animal Shelter to play with the puppies with Abby for a little study break. Then I came back home and worked on some assignments for my online class. Around 6 I went to listen to my friend Emily talk about her month in China this summer teaching English. The host home was BEAUTIFUL! There were about 6 of our close friends and it was great to do a little exploring arond the grounds and in the house also. There was a little room built into the house specifically as a little doll house for thier daughter off the bonus room! So cute! Anyhow it was amazing to spend some time just enjoying being around friends and learning more and more about each other.

Jesse came down yesterday and we ran around on some errands when he first got here. He actually wanted to go back to the train club after it was closed to the public to get some more work done on the major bridge to nowhere that has been the bain of n-scale folk's existance. So I went with him and studied while he was working. It was actually a really nice place to go and study.

Today I have been studying most of the day but it hasn't been too bad. I'm about to get back to it YAY!

This coming weekend I am actually excited to go do training at a theraputic horse riding place so I can do some service learning for one of my classes. I am sure I will have some interesting things to tell you all next week!

So you all need to comment if you want this to keep up. I mean I am a psych major still and reinforcement is a good motivation for behavior :)

Hike

So I'm BACK!! 3 day weekend means I have a little bit of time so here I am.

Quick school update: It is CRAZY!

Moving on, Friday was Jesse's birthday so I went to his house for the afternoon. I got to meet his new nephew...SO CUTE!! I was reminded I am a baby hog...but really how could I be in my family and not hog a really cute 3 week old baby? Jesse's mom made beef Strogonoff (sp?) which was AMAZING!! And we had chocolate cake with chocolate icing for dessert.

Then yesterday Jesse and I went hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Temperatures were in the 70s and sunny blue skies everywhere!! OMG It was the perfect day! We hiked about 6 miles and it was BEAUTIFUL!!! The path was picture perfect.

Absolutely 100% perfect day! Including the left over strogonoff post hike!

Jesse didn't know I was taking random pictures. I have several that are very similar to this one.
For some reason I really like this one. I was fake running like a dork but it turned out pretty good I think.

So if you cant tell this has been a perfect weekend from birthday dinners to hiking to even studying in the afternoon sunlight. One more day of this weekend is left. I have some more sunlight studying calling my name :)

Summer Wrap

Well I got a little behind on my posting since I quite frankly just got tired of writing. Since it is the second day of classes and I happen to have a bit of time I thought I would write something real fast.

Summer was pretty good beyond all the trips I took. I watched the boy I watched last year and he was a challenge as usual but we both survived :) I also worked with a woman who works in the housing market which was interesting. I helped with marketing homes and rentals she has for sale or rent.

Since it is the second day of my "senior" year of college I think it is about time I mention that I decided over the summer to persue a nursing degree. My plan is to graduate in May with a BS in Child Psychology and then begin a nursing program in the fall. I only have 3 classes to add to be able to apply to a nursing program in the spring.

So that was my summer. There was another quick trip to Pigeon Forge and Dollywood this weekend which was really fun. And then to Knoxville for Jesse's sister's wedding reception which was also lovely. And then back to the life of a college student.

I am planning to stay on top of things this semester so maybe I'll find time to chat here and maybe not...I'll try to pop in when I can.

Mom and Dad Come to Visit

Recently Mom and Dad came for a weekend visit. It was great to have them here. We had such a great time!

They were actually able to come up on Thursday so we were able to spend an extra day together. That turned out to be a good thing since we all slept till NOON on Friday! We ended up getting some Mexican for lunch around 2PM and the just laid around the house for the rest of the day.

Saturday Jesse came down early and we all headed to the Train Museum on campus. Mom and Dad LOVED it! I mean how could you not! It really is a really neat place! Lots of work goes into everything from the layouts to the display cases. It really is something to see!

After the Train Museum we ate lunch and headed out to go shooting! Yet again it was HOT! There were a lot of guns and we had a GREAT time!

Once back to my apartment we had some dinner and watched most of The Perfect Storm before Jesse had to go home. We soon went to bed. Sunday morning we were able to spend some more time together before it was time for Mom and Dad to head back home.

Overall it was a FANTASTIC weekend and I hope they can come back soon!

Pigeon Forge #3

Another day off another day to blog. I know you all have been by here every other day this week and have patiently awaited every post :)

Also I'm sure you have noticed a bit of a trend. Pigeon Forge has been my main trip this summer. It is so close and I have a Dollywood pass so I might as well use it right?

Anyway Jesse decided he wanted to go to Dollywood so we put it on the calendar and went for a day trip. We stopped at the Christmas Place on the way in since I had never been. WOW! That is a LOT of Christmas stuff in one place! But still a must see at least once.

Then we continued to Dollywood. By the time we got there we were both ready for lunch so we started with that. A bratwurst and Funnel cake (of course). MAN were they YUMMY!! Then we went on to walk around the park. We rode the inside ride which is currently the Smoky Mountain Wilderness Adventure Tour. It is a motion chair theater really is the best I can describe it. One of my favorites. I'm not a big fan of the roller coaster so that is a ride I like. Oh yea it was HOT outside so it was nice to be in air conditioning for a bit.

Then we went to ride the train but it was out of order that day. So we rode the carousel instead. Then it was off to Blazing Fury which was pretty fun. By the time we were done with Blazing Fury it was time for a water ride. We rode the River Rampage and got totally SOAKED! After that ride it was time to head back home. We were both still damp when we got back to my apartment! We had such a great time!

Pigeon Forge # 2

Hello,

So the weekend after Fall Creek Falls I went with the Brandes Family to Pigeon Forge to help watch the boys while there. I really enjoyed being with them. It was good to be able to let the boys get used to me and me to them while we were at FCF so we understood each other a little better.

We arrived in PF just before dark so it was unload and get the boys close to ready for bed time. Ashley and I went to the grocery store to get some food and snacks for when I would have the boys during the day.

Saturday went well. The older 2 boys got fed breakfast before Carson(the 4 month old) was up and ready for his bottle. Once the boys and I were dressed we headed out for some fun across the parking lot at the Lazy River. We stayed there long enough for Carson to go down for his nap. Then we went to the playground and met up with some of the boys' cousins for some play time. Then it was time for lunch. Soon after Ashley and Tyler were back. It was rest time for everyone before going out to dinner with all of Tyler's family. After dinner we went to one of the go cart places near the hotel and let Ben and Warren ride the rides in the kid part of the attraction.

Sunday was a lot of the same as Saturday. Before parting ways we went to the Old Mill Restaurant and it was really good!

It was a tiring weekend but I will say I am really missing those boys right about now. Thank goodness they have moved up to TN so are just 3 hours away instead of in FL lots of hours away!

I'll try to get another blog ready for 2 days from now to continue with the postings but I think 4 blogs in one night is a good start. So until next time,

Fall Creek Falls

Hey!

You came back! I just couldn't help myself. Today's installment is Fall Creek Falls (or Creek Fall Falls if you are a certain 4 year old)

Anywho I went on the yearly trip to FCF the first week of July. It was great! It was awesome to spend time in nature with family having a great time! With 4 boys from 4 months to 6 years old there was NEVER a dull moment! Add 4 cabins full of friends and family and there was always somewhere to go or something to do. On the 4th of July after a late lunch/early dinner cookout we went down the cable climb. I didnt get to do that last year so it was great to get back down there. In case you are wondering what in the world is the cable climb, it is a pretty tough hike where many points you have to hold on to a cable to get down safely. Turns out the cable is only so helpful. I ended up slipping and scraping both legs up down at the bottom of the hike. I didnt get really hurt just a little scary to be slipping with stories I have heard. Oh yea, there is a beautiful water fall at the bottom of the hike which is the main reward for getting down there.

There was also a lot of card game playing, movie watching, and kid chasing. One evening I went out on the lake in a Kayak which was so much fun! I liked that a lot better than canoeing. It feels a lot harder to tip the boat over which was very good for me!

From the Parade to hiking to just sitting outside visiting with friends and family Fall Creek Falls did not disapoint!

Pigeon Forge Trip #1

Hello again,

Early June when I was off work with the little boy I watch, I took a mini-vacation with Mom and Dad and Aunt Jill and Uncle Duane. We had a GREAT time!!

We got there on Friday evening. Went to dinner and just enjoyed each others company. Saturday Mom and Aunt Jill and I went to Dollywood while the guys went to a car show that just happened to be in town. After a Funnel Cake and a show we pretty much decided it was hot enough to head out. We went to a neat place in Gatlinburg for dinner. They had live music just down from our table. The food was great and we had an excellent time! We tried to go see fire flies who sync to each other but the parking was FULL. So instead we just went back to the motor home and watched the ones in the campground.

Sunday Mom and Dad left around lunch time since they had to go to work Monday. After they left we went back to Dollywood for another funnel cake. (Can you tell I like the funnel cake:) We also decided that we would tackle the new climbing tower thing they have this year called Adventure Mountain. It was tough but GREAT to get to the top. After we got back to the bottom we decided it was time for a water ride. Man did we find the one! Strategically placed within seeing distance from the top of the Adventure Mountain is River Battle. SO MUCH FUN!! We got totally SOAKED!! So fun!

Monday we went and drove the Cades Cove loop in the morning and through Gatlinburg. After that Aunt Jill and I decided it wasn't a trip to Pigeon Forge without going for a little shopping! So off we went. What a way to end a great trip! Tuesday morning we packed up and went our separate ways.

It was so great to get away for a few days!

Well it has been a while. And I hear that there are still some people out there who check over here every once in a while so here is an update.

This semester has FLOWN by. I'd say main points are Spring Break, Relay, and end of the year at this point and of course a Jesse update.

So Spring Break I went home and Aunt Jill met Mom and I in Chattanooga to visit the penguins...I mean Aquarium :) We had a great time! I think I took over 50 pictures of the penguins alone! It was a good thing too...my batteries died shortly after that so that was pretty much the only exhibit I got lots of pictures of. Jesse came down Friday of Spring Break so it was good to all just spend time together enjoying each other's presence!

Relay for Life was AMAZING!!!! This year I did not make a grand post beforehand because frankly I was wrapped up in the planning stages and school and everything else going on to have time to update here too. Let me just say again Relay was AMAZING! Mom, Aunt Jill, Nanny, and Mama Sue all were able to come and share in the event with me which was just so amazing! I was co-team development chair this year and I loved it! I had a great co-chair and we worked so well together! It was great to actually be able to ENJOY the event this year. Since I was in charge of teams my job was pretty much over once the event officially started so I was able to just spend time at the campsite and enjoy the different things going on. It was great to be able to form relationships with so many different team captains to make a great event! Not only was I on the Committee but I also Co-Captained a team with Jillian again. Again our team raised an increadible amount of money and again were able to have electricity because of that total. Overall by the night of the event we had raised over $36,000 towards our goal of $46,000 and we still have until August to raise the rest! If you would like to make a donation you can go to relayforlife.org/etsu. You should be able to search for me or this year there are some awesome t-shirts that are for sale which you will find some information about that as well at the bottom of the main page. So anyway Relay was great and moving on...

Let me just say again this semester FLEW by! I finished it off well and I am so glad that it is over. it was challenging but I actually enjoyed many of my classes and learned a lot!

Enough of that I know you all just come here for the Jesse updates...just kidding! But anyway we are still going strong. It has been a little more difficult this semester to figure out when we can acutally see each other but I did figure out that train club is where its at on Thursday nights! All kidding aside we were able to work on one of the layouts that Jesse is coordinator of for a couple months and it looks really great if I do say so myself. The train club guys now always look for me if Jesse goes alone. If you are ever in JC maybe we can go see all the layouts they have setup.

Well I think that is about it for now. Maybe I will be back sometime over the summer but if not keep checking in I will be back sometime!

Hello again all,

Just wanted to add a quick update since I have again changed my background. Wouldn't want all you guys out there looking at friends blogs to miss the change :)

Anyway, I had a nice Christmas at home. On Christmas day Mom, Dad, and I went down to FL so that we could spend the week with Nanny and Pa, and Aunt Jill and Uncle Duane. We had a nice time spending time together and we actually had some nice weather and were able to spend some time on the beach. It was nice to get a lot of much needed rest.

After we got home we spent a few more days resting and I had a couple days of running around Nashville. I headed back to JC Wednesday and was welcomed back with about 2 inches of snow. It has continued to snow off and on since then and it is bitterly cold.

It is late and bed time is near so I'll blog again later...maybe.

Surprise!! An Update!

It is late and I had a nap this afternoon so I am still awake. I love how that works.

Anywho I decided to update the background and header to Christmas so I thought I would add an update too. You may notice that I have red hair in the above picture. I like it. My friend Lois dyed it for me a couple days after Halloween. I am trying to decide if I should do it again or go back to the normal dark blond when it washes out. We'll see.

Well a lot has happened since Dollywood. Almost a whole semester. Jesse and I are still together. We went home for Fall Break and he got to meet Dad...and Bear. It seems that Dad approves...Bear, not so much! Pretty funny if you ask me. We had a good time at home. We went to Phillips Toy Mart, the Carter House in Franklin, Opry Mills, and enjoyed some of Mom's good cooking.

Speaking of cooking, skipping about a month ahead I went home last week for Thanksgiving. It was WONDERFUL to be home and enjoy food. Everyone pitched in and helped with the cooking and it was amazing. Aunt Jill and Uncle Duane stayed at our house for the weekend and it was great to get to spend some extra time with them too. Then I came back to JC and up to Jesse's house on Sunday to meet his Dad, sister, and niece. I met his mom last week. It was a nice afternoon of watching football! Both the Colts and Titans WON!!

There are just a couple weeks before finals and I get to go home for Christmas. Ashley and I have decorated the apartment for Christmas and we are having a Cookie Exchange party this weekend. I hear it may snow Friday/ Saturday! It would be perfect to have a nice coat of snow for a Christmas Party!! Oh yea, and of course we are going to FL again after Christmas for about a week. I'm sure it will be all sorts of excitement as always!

Dollywood

Well a lot has gone on in the past few months. I guess the main thing is I now have a boyfriend, Jesse. We started dating the end of June and so far so good.

We went to Dollywood at the end of August for Pa’s company picnic. We had a great time. He got to meet Nanny and Pa, Aunt Jill, all the Breedings and the Turners. It was great to see everyone and spend some time with Aunt Jill running around the park. Of course the little girls were precious as always. Kaylee actually took the picture of me in my header. Not bad for a 5 year old. After Dollywood we went back to “Nana’s motel” as the little girls call it and watched them swim for a while. When we left Nanny, Pa, Aunt Jill, Jesse and I went to Texas Roadhouse for some dinner…it was about time since Aunt Jill, Jesse, and I just ate a funnel cake for lunch.

Jesse and I then split from the others and came back to Johnson City. Sunday Jesse planned to go shooting with Ryan so I went back to Pigeon Forge to spend the day with the Breedings and Turners. It was great to spend time swimming with the girls and chatting with the rest of the family. And of course Mama Sue making dinner was a very big plus too! After leaving there it was time for classes to start again on Monday. What a way to end my busy summer!

Well I finally have some time off from jobs and have a little time to update everyone.

Looks like it has been quite a while since any real update. Sorry about that. So I will start at the move. In the middle of May I moved into a different apartment. For now it is just my stuff but come August I will have a new roommate. Here are a few quick pictures of the apartment. The first is the Kitchen/dining area. The room is very long which you cant really see in this picture but believe me it is long. I am excited to say that I got a new refrigerator today so no more leaking! YAY!!

Next we have the living room. Again it is long.

Next is my Bedroom. It is much larger than the other one and I have room to actually put my desk. You may notice the white board calendar on the wall. It is color coded by job/misc. and that is the way I keep up with where I have to be at what time.

Lastly here is the bathroom. Again very long.

I do like the new place and am getting as settled as I can with 3 jobs and "social life" calling. I have been able to enjoy the pool a couple times and hope to go tomorrow on my second day off in a row.

As far as jobs I am liking them all so far. I have not been getting many hours at UPS but that is ok at this point. I had not been getting many before which is why I got the new ones.

I am babysitting an 11 year old boy who has autistic characteristics. He is really sweet most of the time but has his days that he is EXTREMELY loud. I really enjoy watching him 3 days a week.

And lastly I am working in Ladies Fashion at Kmart. I work about 20 hours a week out there. It makes for long days when I babysit from 7:30-4 and then go to Kmart at 5 or 5:30 - 9 or 10. BUt I like it. The people I work with are really fun. They are definitely characters.

Well, that is about all I have to update at this point. Next week I will be a Bridesmaid in one of the fraternity Brother's wedding. And then I will be heading to Sevierville for the day on the way to Fall Creek Falls for most of the next week. I am glad to be able to coordinate all the jobs to have some time off!

I may get some more time off and blog again soon.

So here goes, some things that I definately did NOT do this week...or maybe I did.

I did NOT stay up until late into the night and end up second to comment two nights in a row on MckMama's posts.

I did NOT bake 2 different cakes today and have NOT eaten way too much of both of them.

I did NOT begin the the process of working at three different places this summer and am NOT going to enjoy it.

I did NOT spend Sunday afternoon napping at the pool then on the couch. That would be a waste of time.

Ok. So maybe I am not creative but there are sure to be many more posts linked to MckMama's post so go check it out!

Rusty

It is sad for me to type that we had to put Rusty to sleep this week. I got him as a present for my 14th birthday.

When he was about a year old he began having seizures and we had to give him 2 different types of medicine twice a day. The medicine made him hungry all the time :)

This was a pain at times but he was a good old boy. The amounts of medication caused his liver to fail and there was nothing we could do to help him. He was not in pain in the end and for that I am thankful. I am also thankful I had the chance to spend some extra time with him last weekend on an unexpected trip home. I will miss his little pitter patter on the hardwood floors at home but he is better off now.

Just wanted to direct you all again to love on baby Stellan and his family. He is having heart surgery no later than Tuesday at 8:30 AM if not tonight.

Nothing much new here. Just trying to get through the next two and a half weeks until summer.

Relay Wrap-Up

Well Relay for Life happened this weekend and it was AMAZING!!! Absolutely! Not only did my team do awesome, the ceremonies go great, and everyone have a wonderful time, but I also ended up cutting 9 inches off my hair. The Internet is currently not working at the apartment so I am not able to post pictures yet...soon though. I really like my hair how it is. Think Kate from Jon and Kate Plus 8 when it was still cute. Not the long big chunk that sort of just sits in front of her face all the time.

Any who for a quick rap of everything:

Nanny and Pa came and stayed until about 10 PM. Our team sponsored them as our caregivers which was really neat. It was great to have them experience Relay.

The only two ceremonies I planned were really GREAT! During the Luminaria ceremony we had a Survivor, a Caregiver, our Fight Back speak who also happened to be a survivor, and then Elizabeth (one of the ones I went to Atlanta with this summer) and myself. It was really cool to have a succession of speakers. We also read a poem called "The Darkened Room" which you can find on the American Cancer Society website if you want to read it. As the poem was read I had 4 other committee members lighting the word "HOPE" in the stands. I hear it was really neat and timed/planned perfectly. I think the best part of the ceremony was that after it was over I saw our ACS Staff Partner, Amy, and she said, "I was really worried you weren't going to pull it off, but that was an amazing ceremony." That was great. I had a vision the whole process it was just difficult to find people to speak but it came together and was one of the best luminaria ceremonies I have ever been involved in.

Fight Back was the other ceremony I had and it was really powerful to hear a fellow student tell her story of overcoming cancer.

I have already mentioned one of our team activities, cutting hair for Pantene Beautiful Lengths. We ended up having 8 or 9 people donate on site. That is an incredible number and will make more than one wig. I was the first to have mine cut and my goodness my hair is THICK! It felt like it took forever! But it really does look great! I like it a lot. Jillian was next and hers is also really cute. She is still not a big fan but she has never had short hair. I think it is at least "growing" on the rest of us.

We had several on site fundraisers also. We raised over $200 on site! That is amazing! I think our best on site was the Cake Walk. We had a $1 entry for 5 chances to win and with over 30 cakes we raised over $50 from that alone!

So I'm sure you are wondering if I am ever going to finish this post with you know numbers and awards...here you go.

Our team won Most Activity Participation! Our campsite was right across from the stage so it was pretty easy for us to participate but they had some great activities planed!

We also were announced as 3rd in Fundraising but Jillian and I are thinking that number is not quite correct. With the on site and online funds raised we should be in second place which would make us the highest fundraising "Greek" organization in ETSU history!! But even if we don't get the official distinction of second the announced second place team was two teams put together.

Thank you to everyone who donated or thought about us the past few days and weeks. We had a great weekend and I can't wait until next year!

Not Me Monday--Stellan Style

MckMama started a fun weekly "therapy" session where people admit to NOT doing things. I have read her's and many other blogger's posts since it began months ago but this week is different. This week is to show love an support for the Mckfamily. So as you can see I have not been doing much in the form of Stellan this week.

I have NOT checked on Stellan every time I am near a computer. This includes on campus, at work, etc.

I did NOT check on Stellan while writing a lab report. That would be distracting.

I have NOT prayed for him every time I think about him this week.

I did NOT tell family and friends to go learn about sweet baby Stellan and his family.

I did NOT get excited about the ticker passing 6 MILLION on MckMama's site just because that means over 1 million people have been checking in on him...Or at least refreshing for updates like I have NOT been.

Aunt Jill's Guest Post

OK, so I know that even if I ever tried to start and maintain a blog, it would fall by the wayside in the first week. But I have had an experience tonight that I think is blog-worthy, so I’ve asked Elizabeth to let me do a guest post.

As some of you may know, my sister and Elizabeth’s mom, Lisa, is a Pampered Chef consultant. Through her I have discovered what may be one of the greatest inventions ever made! It’s called the mix ‘n chop and here is what it did for me tonight. I’m not typically a cook, it’s just easier for my husband and I to eat out. We have different tastes and he’s a pretty picky eater. He’s a meat and potatoes kind of guy, if you will. But I’ve been on a kick this week and I have cooked dinner for the last three nights. That is a record for me, and especially the fact that I have cooked and even cleaned up after myself each night! HA!

Tonight was meatloaf night. I love the stuff but don’t usually make it because it is so messy, digging your hands in that raw meat and eggs and other yucky stuff that ends up tasting so good. But tonight I got out my trusty mix ‘n chop and used that to blend everything together. I then was able to spoon the mixture into my mini-loaf pan and not once did my hands have to even touch the raw meat, much less dig into it! The mini-loafs I think are pure genius too, as the cooking time was much less and it was great for portion control. Now I have some other loaves that I can either take for lunch or freeze for dinner another night.

It's Relay Time!!

It's that time of year again. The time when I spend time planning team events and raising money for the American Cancer Society. Relay for Life is coming up the first week of April. You can visit my personal page at www.acsevents.org/goto/mstangsally to donate or to just learn more about the event.

Some quick information about the things I will be taking part in at this year's Relay:

* I am the Chairperson of the Ceremonies and Luminaria Committee meaning I have the responsibility of planning the four main ceremonies; Opening/Survivors (Celebrate), Luminaria (Remember), Fight Back, and Closing. As far as Luminaria I am in charge of selling them in addition to the ceremony.

* I am also Co-Captain for the Phi Sigma Pi Relay team. We have a great theme and a good size team. We have several ideas for activities on site including one of our great guys participating in the Dude Looks Like a Lady onsite fundraiser.

*Another Team activity we have going on is several of the girls including myself will be cutting our hair for Pantene's Beautiful Lengths. This means cutting off eight inches at least to be sent to make wigs for women who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

I think that is all that is officially going on I will update again with any more information. Why I love Global Warming

First I would like to thank global warming for allowing me to get out of classes for thisand

But the real reason is because of icy roads. Note this is the 2nd time we have gotten out for snow this year already and they are still predicting up to 3 more inches by tonight.

I also love global warming because on a snow day I have time to make this Chicken Parm. It was much prettier before I dumped half of it upside down in the pan trying to get it to the plate. It was VERY yummy and easy to make. I see quite a bit of it in my future.

And lastly I love global warming because I have the perfect excuse to stay in bed all day watching movies and reading. With the current 18 degrees as low as 12 this morning and wind chills near 0 I am keeping my heating blanket on high and just spending quality time with my bed.

SNOW WEEK!!!

Hello everyone,
This week was one of SNOW!! That's right about 4 inches of snow!! We woke up Monday which we already had off of classes to a beautiful blanket of snow.

Jillian and I sat and watched it snow for a bit then decided that we should go sled for a while. So we called Marc and went sledding. After a while we were tired of sledding and decided to build a snowman. Well Jillian and I started to build a "Nashville snowman." You know the one with just 3 little snow balls because that is all the snow there is. Marc was on the way to an "Ohio snowman" So he taught us how to build a real snowman. We spent about an hour building him.

Birthday Wrap up

Hey y'all,
Long time no update I know. I just thought I would post a little about the happenings of my birthday. I decided last week since I have never not had people over for my birthday I wanted to invite some people over for games and such just to hang out. So Monday night I had some of the Brothers over and we had Pizza and played board games. Two of the Brothers brought me a gigantic chocolate cake. Think Matilda movie chocolate cake. It was huge. I had a great time just being with people I hadn't seen since before Christmas.
Yesterday for my real birthday I went in to work around 12 just to hang out. We ended up getting some pizzas and then one of my co-workers had baked me a cake. When Jillian got off work and back to the apartment I opened my present from her.

Isn't it cute? Who would ever think the made a coffee cup with a frog on it! Good job Jill! After watching a classic John and Kate Plus 8, it is pretty much all that is on our DVR, we went to see Bride Wars. It was a really good movie. That also turned into part of my present from Jillian, I have a great roommate dont I? We then went to Starbucks to hang with Brothers again. Overall I'd say celebrating for over 24 hours counts as a darn good birthday.

Classes start again tomorrow so dont expect much from me for a while. Or I may just surprise you all and update more often. We'll see.

Phi Sigma Pi Update

So, especially the last week or so we have had all kinds of Phi Sigma Pi events. Therefore Phi Sigma Pi is the focus of this post. Not the drama but instead the events and fun.

To begin we had our first Thanksgiving dinner as Brothers the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I didnt even try to post pictures on here but they are all on Shutterfly. One of our Brothers, Courtney, fixed the turkey and all sorts of other fixings. I made the Mac and Cheese and baked brownies and a strawberry cake. Everything tasted so wonderful!! It was the best turkey I have ever eaten and I don't even like turkey!! Anyway once we all gathered it was dinner time. Our president Jarrod got to be the man and sliced the turkey for us to all enjoy. We then sat and talked and laughed through dinner. At some point someone decided that we needed some games. So I came back to the appartment and packed up some of our board games while everyone else helped clean up. When I got back we started playing Dirty Minds but everyone was just too tired to play so we laid in a circle and rested. Some people actually slept and others played hangman or nerts. Overall we had a great time just being together.

This week we had induction of Alpha class. They have been through a hard initiation process and I am so proud of each of them for becoming Brothers. We had a great Induction and then went to dinner as a group afterwards. Pictures are up of this event too.

Finally, Wednesday we had our Ice Cream Social/Dirty Santa event. I think this has been my favorite event we have had so far. I mean how can it not be great with ice cream, toppings, gifts, and friends? We had all kinds of fun and in the beginning Dirty Santa wasn't too dirty, but the second time around, it got pretty dirty. The dirty pretty much started with Jillian and I ending up stealing the gift the other actually wanted. So we both ended up happy and we now have a reindeer tht plays "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer." After our sneeky stealing others began to get in on it too. All in all we had a great night and it was a great way to end out the semester. Oh yea there are pictures of this too.

I hope this post sort of makes up for not posting in a while. I have finals coming up this week and will work at the UPS Store again for a little while until I go home for Christmas.

I know it has been a while since the last update. Sorry about that. Bu this is not really going to be a big update since October update.

So you may be wondering about the title. Well Blogger once again will not let me upload pictures but I do have them on my shutterfly account to the right. Anyway, Jillian put up the Christmas tree yesterday, and put some balls all over the appartment in random places. It just feels like Christmas now!!! When I got back from class I decided the kitchen looked a bare. So all day today I thought and thought about what to put in there. Well here comes the Martha part, I thought putting wrapping paper in the indented parts of the cabinets would be fun! So we did it! I think it looks nice! We had fun putting it all up but I have told Jillian if I ever come up with a project like that again to just say no!!!!!!!!!! It was quite an ordeal but I am proud of the results!!

This week has been exciting to say the least.
Monday night was Pinning for all of our new initiates for Phi Sigma Pi. We pinned 27 initiates which is an AWESOM number especially for our first rush!!! In addition to pinning we revealed the Big/Little matchings. I have two Littles. Ryan, Jillian's boyfriend is on the right, and Seth who is a sophmore on the left.

I am really excited about the chance to teach these guys how to love the fraternity just as much as I do!!

Further on in the week Jillian and I went for quite a bit of "retail therapy" this week. There has been a lot on both our minds and it has been nice just to spend time together relaxing and laughing. We have been doing a lot of TOP SECRET Big Brother activities just for our littles. I think our Littles are going to love us!!

If you went over to her blog last post when I told you to see her's for what's going on, she hasn't had a chance to update since her tilt test on Thursday. They diagnosed her with some long thing that I dont remember at the moment but basically it means that her heart and brain dont always communicate well. When she is either sitting or standing too long her blood pools in the lower part of her body. Her brain tells her heart to beat faster and when it doesnt help, her brain says to slow back down. This sharp rise and fall in BP is what causes her to pass out or have episodes. They told her to drink more water and add more salt to her diet. Hopefully these things will help and she will feel much better very soon!
Jillian also has been battling walking pnumonia (or however you spell it) and is feeling much better than last week but still not well. She was able to go back to work today for an 8 hour shift and then we went out for more retail therapy.

I have been doing my best to stay healthy and I am feeling pretty well, just tired.

This week midterms and midterm assignments begin with fall break being next weekend and Monday and Tuesday. I am looking forward to spending time in Atlanta with Mom, Dad, Aunt Jill, and Uncle Duane! Aunt Jill and I are going to a black tie affair Friday night when I get down there so that should be great fun!!

I'm not sure when I will be able to update again but until then, hope life is well!

Really if you want to know what has been going on here in JC the past week, you should go to Jillian or Mama Q's blogs. They are much more extensive in explaining what has been happening here. It has been a long and stressful week as Jillian has been ill all week. That is all I really feel like posting about it now. Like I said Check her blog.
On a slightly different note, Mom came up for the weekend and we cooked most of the time. It was great to have her here. I think it was good for us all to get some much needed rest.
This week should hopefully begin to wind down as Rush events come to a close tomorrow night with pinning the new initiates. We also get to reveal our Big/Little choices/matches and I am really excited about that. Jillian and I have worked really hard to get our Littles some great first gifts.

He was born the end of July but for real updates click Allison's name on the side. After meeting Camden, Allison, Greg, Dad, and I all went to the UT Florida game. I had never been to a UT game and I had a really great time even though we were stomped. I really want to go back when we have a chance of playing the game :) The past couple weeks have been VERY busy which have resulted in a huge lack of updates. Sorry about that. We had rush for Phi Sigma Pi starting last week and it will continue through this week. I wouldnt expect any updates any time soon.

Pretty much the only thing of great inpact since the last post is I have "taken a leave of absence" from The UPS Store for some time. Last week with classes was a little overwhelming so I decided that at this time adding work to it is not in my best interest as far as grades go. They told me whenever I want to come back I will have a job. So that is the deal.
This week Jillian and I are hosting our Phi Sigma Pi Regional Consultant for our chapter. So that is the big event of the week.

I can't really think of anything else to blog at this point. So here you go Mama Sue and Mama Q. Hope this is good enough for a little while :)

Classes

I know it has been quite a while since the last update. And therefore I am going to very quickly wrap up the last month and then continue to the present.

The first week of August I went to National Convention for Phi Sigma Pi in Nashville with Jillian. It was an awesome experience that I am so glad I got to take part in. Jillian and I learned all kinds of ways to make our chapter a well grounded one this year since it is our first year as a chapter. We recieved our charter and met all kinds of great Brothers from around the country.

The next weekend I went to Atlanta for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life Colleges Against Cancer Colligate Summit. A mouth full I know. Any way I had a great time going to break out sessions and meeting new people. I learned a lot about how to make RFL even better this year! We even had an 80's Style Prom. I will post pictures on Shutterfly at some point.

This past weekend I went to Pigeon Forge with All mom's family. We went to the VEC Company Picnic at Dollywood. It was really great to see everyone and relax a little in the "freakin' Hot Tub" and soak my feet in the "zuccini."

Classes started yesterday and they have been pretty good so far. I have a lot and I think they are going to be pretty intense just from the first day's introduction.

I dont think I have mentioned it before but Ryan got a dog a couple weeks ago. His name is Butch and he is really well behaved. The pound said he is Jack Russell but he looks like he has Rottie in him. He is little but he does have times when he has a lot of energy.

Uncle Russell Came to Visit

So you all most likely think I am crazy for the title, and I may be, but I really do think he came to visit me on an afternoon when I really needed a smile.
Monday was not a great day, I had an exam, lab, and I had to close at work for the first time by myself. If you cant tell by now I am not a big fan of my job nor was I a fan of taking nearly an hour to close. It was a long day. And neither of the registers balanced correctly. I called the office manager 3 times to try to get everything worked out and ended up just leaving it like it was. Any way when I finally left, I walked out to the car and on my seat there was a brand new penny. If you dont know why this is significant, go here to read the story. So I think that on a really bad day Uncle Russ left me a penny for a smile and a "I'm still watching you" reminder. That is the reason for the title. Just thought you all should know.

Exciting news!!

Just thought I would let everyone that due to my devotion to Relay for Life this spring I was invited by our campus staff person from the ACS to be one of 4 representatives at the ACS National Collegiate Leadership Summit!!! I am really exctied to be able to represent ETSU as a campus and to bring back ideas to encourage everyone to participate this coming year!! I am the only one of the four people who has not been on the committee before and I am very honored!! I am so happy to be able to share Uncle Russ' story in a way that gets other people motivated to participate and raise money for a cause that I think is a wonderful one. It is the least I can do for a man who never ask "Why me?" instead "Why not me?"

So the weekend after I go to the Phi Sigma Pi convention in Nashville, I will be on my way to Atlanta for an all expense paid weekend including air fare and everything! I am going to have so much information in those two weekends no one is going to know what to do with my brain ;)

Super fast update

Hey everyone!
I know I am really bad at updating pictures and such. But at least I do give you all an update every few weeks. I am better than Jillian at that ;)

So since I last posted, Laken and I went in early and totally suprised Ms. Karen by having almost the entire first coat finished when she got in. She was soooo happy to see it done for her!! She really wanted to help us with the second coat but we wouldnt let her.

After seeing the two offices we painted, Dr. Hopson decided he wanted his office painted too so that took up most of the rest of the week.

I took off that Friday so that I could do some training at the UPS Store. I have so far done two days of training and I train again tomorrow and Friday then should be on the schedule for real starting next week.

Last week I was at FCF with family. I have pictures which will be uploaded at some point. I will have a post just to let you know when that is. If you want more details about the week check out Ashley's blog. She has pictures and stories.

I know this is short and not too detailed but I am really tired and headed to sleep.

UPDATE

Hey everyone.

It has been a little while and i thought I would give a super quick update. Well First I forgot to add pictures of our living room with everything in its place...that would be because it really isnt all where we want it but it is getting there. My desk which is not pictured is still finding its final sitting place so there are a couple other things that will be moved. Ok so for some reason my computer is again not a fan of me and will not upload the pictures I want to be on here. So I will try to post them either tomorrow or on Shutterfly at some point.

The most recent reason I wanted to update everyone is on my job duties at the clinic. Tomorrow will begin my last week at the clinic for the summer. One part of me is sad that I will notbe there every morning at 8 (or earlier as I will be there around 7 tomorrow), but at the same time it is time for me to move on and give them time to find things for us to do so we arent bored out of our minds when classes start back in August. Anyway, since they have had trouble finding things for us to do, us being the other temp. worker and I, we have been doing EVERYTHING together. Getting the mail together, making copies together, all but answering the phone together since there is only one phone. With the clinic closed last week and until July 7th we have been moving and cleaning and redecorating the offices of professors. We moved one professor's things from her old office to her new one after moving the things out of that office into her old one. Then we tidied up the dentist on staff's office. It looks much better now. Friday the professor who moved offices decided she wanted to paint her office so we moved everything possible out of/to the middle of her office and painted her office. Since we had about an hour left before our day was over we decided to get my supervisor's office ready to do a "While You Were Out" style makeover. So we moved all of her furnature to the middle of her office, into the hallway, and into the reception area. We then cleaned, disinfected, and vaccuumed her office. Laken and I are going to go in early in the morning to paint at least a coat on before she gets in at 9 so she cant make us stop. Hopefully if I get there at 7 and tape everything off when Laken gets in at 7:30 or so we can just get to painting. Who knows what the rest of this week will hold but I know that our job descriptions just keep getting expanded.

New Apartment!!!

Hey everyone!! I hope you all will forgive me for not updating you all sooner but there has been a lot going on around here. I have finished the semester, spent a week at home, started my new job, moved into the apartment, worked a day, taken off 2 for graduation, worked 2 more days, then spent the long weekend at home. As you can see I have been busy!!!

But anyhow most of this blog will be focused on the new apartment which is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I absolutely LOVE IT!!! We are still getting settled but with the furniture in all we have to to is find just the right placement for it all. I will place a few pictures below and many more will be up on shutterfly soon. So be sure to check over there for even more great pictures.

This is the first time Jillian tried to get into the apartment. They gave us the wrong key so this is really just a trial run.

The Past Week

Hello again.

I hope you all enjoyed the Relay post. Aunt Jill once again requested me to update. So she ask this on Wed. and it is now Saturday but close enough. Anyway the past week has been pretty busy. Monday night was induction for Phi Sigma Pi the Honor Faraternity I am now a charter member of. Jillian is my brother also. I went to dinner with the Head of Expansion and the rest of the executive board of the chapter (I'm secretary) which was interesting. Then we had the actual induction which I can't discuss but after the induction we took a group photo seen below.

The rest of the week was busy with classes, quizzes, and exams. Thursday night was the return of Grey's Anatomy which was basically the highlight of the week. Last night Jillian and I went to dinner and bowling with our new brothers. It was great fun!! I really am not good at bowling but I did manage a few strikes. Just not enough to beat anyone.

This weekend is set aside pretty much for studying for my exams this coming week and packing up our room so we can move out on Friday.

I dont know when I will update again. I will try to do it before I lose the for sure internet connection on Friday but who knows really.

Relay Wrap Up

Hello everyone!!

As you all know last Friday night was Relay for Life here on campus. There were a couple snafoos but other than that everything ran smoothly. So far my team has raised $1939!!!!! I am sooo proud of my team and thank you to all of you who were thinking about us on Friday.

I actually stayed awake all night and beyond because we had to take care of some things before we could sleep Saturday morning. Once I went to sleep I could not wake up...I slept 24 hours out of 26. It was nice but I am still exhausted!!!

On to some pictures for you all,

Right after the survivor lap was the virtual survivor lap where people were able to take a lap for someone currently battling cancer who was unable to be in attendance that night for whatever reason. Jillian and Marc took this lap for people they know.

This is the one from Nanny and Pa that I decorated. It says, "In memory of Russell Blaylock Love, Mom and Dad." The picture is of Uncle Russell and Warren. It is the last picture we have of Uncle Russ. Also attached to this is a penny.This is the bag I did for grandma, it says, "In loving memory of Grandma. With Love, Elizabeth" This is a picture of her holding a box of instant potatoes that we gave her for Christmas one year after an ordeal at Thanksgiving with the instant potatoes.

Relay Prep

Hey Everyone!!

Just thougt I would give a quick update on life arond here. It is relay...all relay...all the time. Like seriously. Here are some pictures of Jillian and me and my team getting ready for Friday night.

This one is more or less to see what Jillian says since at the time of the picture she was saying dont take that picture.This is Danna hard at work on our team banner.

It was my job to paint the frogs on the shirts. If you didnt know this by now, our theme is Leapin' For a Cure. So frogs are EVERYWHERE!!!

Some of the finished shirts. I will put mine up here when I finish it I just havent gotten there yet.

So as you can see we are working really hard to get everything ready. Both mine and Jillian's teams have done great fundraising. My team is 3rd online and Jillian's is currently 5th which both our teams are pretty small in comparison to many other teams.

Hello blog friends,
Just so you know this month is going to be a long one for me as exams are at the end of it and I have several other assignments due before then. Last night Jillian and I were particularly stressed out about our overly full calendars and it was decided that this is what we need to focus on for the month,

"Don't take on troubles ahead of time because tomorrow will have its own
problems. Just do faithfully what you should be doing today and live one day at a time.
Matthew 6:24"

That is our goal this month, to live each day to the fullest. Living for today, not tomorrow or the next day. This does not mean that we won't look to what is due, it just means that we are trying to handle only the assignments and problems of today.

I challenge you to do that today, just live for today.
I hope you are able to be a little less stressed about everything with this little verse for whatever time you read it.

WE FOUND AN APARTMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If any of you have talked to me in the last few months you know that Jillian and I have been looking for an apartment for next year. Well we have gone pretty much everywhere we can afford or live and for whatever reason it has just not lived up. Well yesterday we all went, Mom, Aunt Jill, Ms. Teresa (Jillian's Mom), Ryan, Marc, Jillian, and I, searching. We went to two different places, one that we had never been inside before and one that R,M, and J had gone into last week. Well the first place was really nice. The second place was horrible. And after some deliberaton on all sides, we decided on the first stop of the day. They have 2 apartments opening up in May so the guys will be downstiars and we will be on the main level. The people from the office are really nice and they know their tennents well so we know that the other people in our building are not too loud and crazy. Most are doctors or nurses and we wont see many of them. I am so relieved to have somewhere to go when we have to move out of the dorm in May. Now I just have to get through all the things due in April.
I will try to put a link up for pictures sometime. They will be on Jillian's picture page sometime but not yet. I didnt take my camera so I will have to wait until she puts them up.

The concert was a lot of fun Friday night. Carrie put on a MUCH better concert than the All American Rejects who came in the fall. It could just be that the others arent really my style but whatever it may be I had a great time with Mom and Aunt Jill this weekend!!!

A new look

Hello everyone,
It has been a little while since I gave you all an update on my life. So here is a quick one. I have taken over the position of secretary in the Phi Sigma Pi initiate colony until the end of our initiation period. I have also been working hard on Relay logistics and I have reached my second goal of $500. I have decided not to raise it again but to leave it and still encourage donations. As I mentioned before I finally found rubber frogs for an on site fundraiser. Amanda, my roommate from summer and fellow teammate, is looking for a little kidie pool with frogs on the bottom. I am so excited about it. I am going to start working on the luminaries that I have purchased for Uncle Russ and Grandma. If you would like to purcase one in honor or memory of someone touched by cancer just contact me in some way and I will tell you how to participate in Relay in this way.

You may have noticed the pictures that actually loaded at the bottom of this post. I am pretty impressed they loaded. This is the "Spring edition" of our door. We have clouds and spring time decorations and also information for Jillian's Relay team as decorations. Below the door pictures you will find pictures of our newly arranged desk area. Jillian decided she was tired of the old one so we made a plan and changed it. Eugene is no longer living on the breakfast table but now is on my rolling cart thing at the foot of my bed. I think he likes it. We had not been eating with him any way since our rug has been disgusting. So as you will notice the rug is gone... well rolled up. It was too hard to keep clean and frankly just grossed me out. So it is in the corner for when we get an apartment and have a vacuum.

Mom, Aunt Jill, and Jillian's mom are all coming up for the weekend since there is a Carrie Underwood concert on Friday night so that should be great fun. I will give you all an update again sometime next week. Until then hope all is well...and leave me comments. Thanks :)

Frogs!!!

Hey everyone!!!

Just thought I would update you all on one event for Relay for Life that I have been working on for a while. Since our theme is frogs in honor of Uncle Russ, I thought of doing a frog pond, just like a duck pond but with frogs instead of ducks. I have been looking for "rubber frogies" since I thought of the theme. Well let me tell you it is really hard to find rubber frogs. But today success!! Ryan, Jillian, and I went to KMart and were browsing the Easter goodies and found rubber frogs!!! The top image is just the frogs we got 2 packs of this set and several packs with just the little ones. Then in the pictures below this one you will see "attack of the frogs" in our kitchen. I set out just some of my collection that will be on display in our campsite. YAY!!! We have frogs!!! Some of my other teammates also have frog stuff to contribute to the site...And are in second place currently out of 37 teams!!!

Spring Break

So here is a real post for you all out there in blogland.

Before I get to spring break, I was looking through some pictures and found some from Valentines day. This year I have been trying to decide wether a boyfriend is something I can handle right now. I have been blessed with a roommate who is always there for me to throw ideas and thoughts off of which has been a great blessing. For Valentines Day or SAD (Singles Awareness Day) I went to a fondu party with Emily and some other friends which was really fun. When I came back to the room after the party I found my valentines day present from Jillian on my desk. It is a frog prince made of chocolate. How much better can prince get?

The next day I went to the post office and found a care package from home and a card from Jillian that almost made me cry. It is nice to know that I really dont need a guy to feel loved.

Ok so on to Spring Break. I went home for the first part and then to Crossville and Pigeon Forge for the last half.
Saturday night we finally had Sarah's Suprise 18th birthday party. She had no clue! We spent the night eating, playing Apples to Apples and Taboo, and laughing until it hurt. The pictures arent wanting to load at all so I'll try to get them up somewhere sometime soon for you all to see.

The rest of the beginning of the week was spent resting and doing chores around the house. On Wednesday Tory and I went to lunch and then to visit HFA for a little while. It was good to see Tory and the people at HFA. I saw Mom Royal and we had a nice chat about life in general. It is always great to see her.

Thursday I went to Crossville to spend the night. I stopped to see Mamaw and Papa on my way to Nanny and Pa's. It was good to see them. After eating a wonderful dinner with Nanny and Pa I took Emalee out for ice cream. It was great to hear all about her life as a 4th grader and to give her some advice I have learned over the years. After Ice cream we played cards for about an hour. I see a future Nerts player in the family. She was fast with the cards.

Friday I left around noon to meet Katie and Zane in Pigeon Forge. We spent the weekend shopping and just hanging out. It was nice to just relax for a while.

Today I got back on campus around 2 and ran a few errands then unpacked and reorganized some of my things.

For a Relay update....I have passed up my first goal of $300 and have raised it to $500. My team is currently in 2nd place only behind the Survivor team. I am so happy to be able to do this in memory of Uncle Russell and I want to thank you all for your support in my journey.

This looks like it will be a busy week with classes and meetings most every day.

Spring Break

I know that the only people who check this regularly are Mom, Aunt Jill, and Tory (sometimes Jillian too) so I am sorry to them to keep a new post from them for so long. If you are not one of the above welcome to a really boring post. It is late and I am not really in the mood to post much tonight.
This week is spring break. It has been nice to be able to sleep in most mornings and to see people that I havent seen in a while. I have pictures and videos I will post when I get back to a decent internet connection from the snow day that didnt happen and from Sarah's suprise birthday party. The stories will come along with the pictures.
Tomorrow I am going to Nanny and Pa's to spend the night before going to Pigeon Forge for the weekend with some friends. I am pretty excited about that trip and will have more stories up around Sunday.
I'm sorry if you actually expected something profound. This is all I have in me right now.

Aunt Jill, Here's Your Update

So last Monday Aunt Jill informed me that I had not updated my blog. Well here a week later I still have yet to find time or inspriation to write.

To summarize this week I am now an initiate in Phi Sigma Pi which is an honor fraturnity that is starting up here on campus. Yay! Jillian and I are going to be brothers!

I finally gave my informative speach on Wednesday which was better than it could have been but not as good as I had hoped. I think I will still get a good grade out of the deal.
The later part of the week I was trying to not get sick and I continue trying.
Yesterday I cleaned up a little more around our room while Jillian was at work. Then went to the BCM to learn some sign language. That was pretty fun.
Today was church and sleep. And somehow I still am really tired.

A super quick note,
This has been a not so wonderful week. I really dont want to go into it here but I was reminded this morning by Susan, the TEQB project manager, "Breathe in Jesus, Breathe out Satan!" That has been my line today. So I ask you all to pray for me. And for Jillian she hasn't had a great night either.
Monday night I conducted the first team meeting of team Kewbie for Relay for Life. If you will notice there are links to my personal page and also that of the team. The car has a name!

So after driving everywhere this week I have a name for my new car. I went through several, Ell, Eli, Lanny, Lenny, Lane, and Alli. I liked Eli but she is a girl so that wont do. I liked Alli but Alli was a fish and is dead. So that also was a negative. So sitting at Starbucks last night with Emily after dinner at one of JC's fine dining establishments, Taco Bell, I landed on Al. Short for Alli which is short for Allison. I mean it is an Elantra pronounced ALantra. So she is Al. And I love her. And everyone is impressed that when I go under 30mph you cant hear the metal rattle under the car. Jillian's favorite is that I dont have the LED lights to "light up" my dash so I can see my speed at night. No Al is perfect. Even Ryan approves! And he knows cars.

So beyond Al, This has been a pretty good week. Obviously I went home for last weekend and got back in the 2nd quarter of the game. I will say the Super Bowl is pretty lame if you are watching it by yourself. But the game itself was pretty boring until the last 3 minutes or so which redeemed the whole thing. Jillian got back around 11 since she had family at her house that day for her mom's birthday.

The week itself has been fairly cam for me. I had a Calc test on Thursday which I havent gotten the grade back but I actually understand it so I feel really good about the test. I also had a chem quiz which was alright. This week I had free time that I dont usually expect so Wednesday Ryan, Jillian and I went to the animal shelter for a little while to see the puppies and a couple of the cats. Yesterday it was really nice outside so I went to the park for a little while and played my guitar. Overall this has been a good week for me.

Coming up for the next week I will be holding my first team meeting for Relay for Life, going to a meeting for an honors frat, and Ihave a Bio test on Thursday. I also will be working on a speach for the 20 about how to decorate a cake.

So this weekend I went home to see daddy for his birthday which is next Sunday. (I went to see mom too ;) ) I had a wonderful suprise waiting for me when I got there, a new 2007 Hyundai Elantra. I am working on adding videos to the video links. Let me tell you they will be much more informative and really captured the event much better than I can do here. First let me start off by saying if you dont want to hear me complain, dont read this entry.
I will start with the happy part of the post. Wednesdays are my Mondays of second semester I have classes from 8:15 to 3 ish and tonight I have a meeting for TEQB. Now if I didnt have Chem Lab this schedule would be fine. I have Chem II, Calc. which I am pretty much understanding and Ryan helped me with last night, and Public Speaking. Today was our first impromptu speech in P.S. which was pretty scary. The topic was think of a specific object to describe your life in the past, present, and future. This means I had to come up with three different objects to describe me. Yea that was difficult. The present came easy, a penny. Then the past, Pooh bear. But the future took the longest to decide on, file folders. We had 12 minutes to prepare a 2-5 minute speech and then deliver it in class. Let me tell you this class tackles the two top fears in America, public speaking, and speaking in front of a camera. So any how most of the other people in the class went before the professor called my name. I was the last one for today, we will finish them on Friday. I was shaking uncontrolably, so I thought. After I finished was time for feedback, both positive and negative. There was no negative feedback. The professor was very impressed with my speaking voice and the pace of the speech was easy to follow. I must say I was so happy to hear that!!
So after leaving that class on cloud 9 I went to Chem Lab. Yea I so could have done without that class today. Today was the first meeting for the semester of lab. I have a different TA this semester than I had last and I already know I am not going to like him. He wouldnt answer any of our questions and he actually wouldnt check our labs at the times he should have as instructed in the lab book. We were playing with atomic structures and the kits we used werent sufficient for what we needed to do. Then he couldnt explain how to do part of the lab we havent covered in lecture. He ended up telling us all to get out of the lab after about 2 hours of us attempting the lab. AHHHH It made me so mad. I still am in a mood from it.
I have a TEQB meeting tonight and from talking to Susan this morning it will be a long one. YAY I cant wait. No really.

Our day in the snow!!

So if you read my blog from this morning you know it snowed here last night so we were out of classes. This morning after Jillian and I got all bundled up we went out to play! We first built a snow man. Then decided he needed a little color so we ended up with this lovely colorful snowman and his colorless dog.
After the initial snow fun we went over to Ryan and Marc's dorm for waffles which were amazing. Then we all decided to go sledding at the park since we thought there were decent hills. Yea not so much on the hill thing. But we ended up with some fun videos I'll see what I can do about getting them on here. I am going to have to check out how Ashley put hers up so they dont clutter up the site too much. Oh yea we were cool and went a step up from stolen trays so we used plastic tub lids.
After our adventure we went to Walmart to get stuff for lunch. We then went back over to the guys' room for lunch, a movie, and we helped them move their room around so it is more liveable.
Then Katie and I went to a progressive dinner with the BCM but didnt stay actually go to dinner or dessert since it would have been an extremely late night.
That was our day in the snow. It was great fun!

I'm too Excited to (go back to) Sleep

So last night it snowed!!!! Snowed enough that we dont have classes today! Which I am pretty sure means I don't have work today! Which means I have no idea what to do with my day!! I am getting waffles at 9:30 which will be great fun! But yea I got up at 6:40 or so when Jillian got in the shower and looked outside and there is about an inch of untouched snow so far. It is supposed to keep snowing until about 9. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First day of second semester

Hey everyone
Just thought I would update before I go to work. I have been to three of my classes and so far I think they will be fine. I actually think I am going to like my Calculus class. I know I dont like math...but I think I can do this. The professor is really nice and she seems very approachable if I have problems. There are several of the Symbiosis drop outs also taking Calculus this semester so I think we are going to have study times. Ryan and Jillian have also had it so I can get their help too. I can do it! Chem is going to be about the same as last semester so it will be not so much fun to wake up to MWF but Katie, Jillian and I are all in the same class so we are planning to study for it at least weekly. My last class of the day MWF is Public Speaking. The professor seems to be nice and willing to help when needed. The class is taped and viewed on 3 satelite campuses so pressing the button to talk is going to take a little getting used to.
This afternoon I am supposed to work for 2 hours but I am not really sure what I will be doing since it didnt look like the clinic was open this morning. I'm sure they'll find something.
Last night was pretty fun. There were about 9 people over total. I have enough chili for an army left. We are seriously going to be eating chili for a month...or at least tonight for dinner. It was good to have people over and the cake turned out pretty tasty.
After everyone left Jillian unpacked and of course we had our slumber party as Tory calls it. It was so nice to talk. I missed that a lot while we were at home.
Well I'm headed to work shortly. I'll put pictures of the break up at some point on shutterfly. I dont know when.

Hey everyone!
I am sucessfully back on campus and actually unpacked and organized. It is pretty exciting! Since returning yesterday I have destroyed and salvaged a cake, unpacked, cleaned a bit, and run a few errands. The cake is a long story but I have learned that a dorm kitchen is not as great to fondant a cake as mom's kitchen. Actually I learned a few things about fondanting a cake but that is beside the point.
Tonight is the birthday party I planed for myself. I am lame I know. I am making my now famous chili and Emily is making nachos. We are having so far about 13 people or so over which should be fun! I am very excited! I think that is all I wanted to mention today.

These links are to both my personal page and the team page which i am leading for relay for life which is occuring in April on campus. My team name is what one of our professors has decided to call the Quantitative Bio people, kewbies. Hey everyone! It's Aunt Jill here from sunny, and oh so cold Florida! It's our last night here and we did get out on the beach for a little while this afternoon looking for treasures. We found lots of shells, some big and some itty bitty! And we also found $.07 with the metal detector. BONUS!

We've had a great time in FL over Christmas and New Years, now time to get back to the real world. I'm so thankful that the rest of the family was able to come down and spend this last week together. Especially for the time we've gotten with Elizabeth! She has camped with us the last 4 nights, mainly because we get a better wireless connection here than at the condo, but I'll take whatever I can get! This wireless card was a wise investment for the time we get with her. :-)

Our puppies have gotten spoiled having mommy and daddy around so much of the time, we'll probably have bahavior problems when we get back to working long hours. Chevy and Reilly have loved getting to meet some other dogs, until Chevy tried to take on the 150 lb. Bull Mastiff. Thankfully he and his owner both had a laid back disposition. Seems like the bigger the dog, the more he needs to act tough!

Well, gotta go watch Shrek 3 now. Thanks to E for letting me do a guest post. Hope everyone has had a wonderful holiday season and that 2008 will be an incredible year for us all!

Hey everyone!!

Just thought I would send a quick thought here from sunny Florida! I am here with Mom, Dad, Aunt Jill, Uncle Duane, Nanny, and Pa. We have had a good week so far. Yesterday Aunt Jill, Mom, and I spent most of the day down on the beach since it was warm enough for that. After today it is supposed to get pretty chilly. It is windier today than it has been the last few days I hear anyway. I havent gone out yet today.

Hello again everyone.
Just thought I would post a quick update of what I've done this week. Monday I went to visit HFA. It was a nice visit. I had so much fun breaking the dress code in my blue jeans and hoodie. I was able to see most of my HFA people and spent a good while talking to Ms. Royal. She is doing well but the direction the school is going is not making her happy. It is sad really... but I digress.
Tuesday I spent in the shadows following Greg around. He seems to be trying his hardest to get me to change my mind about being a dentist. He hasn't been doing a very good job at it. I had a good time following him around.
Wednesday I didnt really do much so the end for that day.
Yesterday I went back to Sparta to get some fillings and then to Murfresboro to the periodontist. Yes I am crazy. If you are wondering it appears I will have to have the procedure on my gums redone since it doesn't look as good as it should and I am having actually more trouble now with it than I did before.
Today I slept in then ran around in "town" to run some errands. Then I came home and cleaned up a bit. Tonight Mom and I have baked some bread (Mom did most of it but I was around) then watched a movie.
So far I have had a good time being not in classes but am missing Jillian and Eugene...oh and my other friends too.
Tomorrow Mom and I are headed to Cookeville for breakfast then on to Crossville for family Christmas.

I doubt I will be back on here before Christmas so Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Hello everyone!!
Just thought I would post saying I am finished with my first (real :) semester in college! I took 19 hours and I survived even though some people told me I couldn't. I did. And I expect I did fairly well. Living away from home has been difficult at times but it also has been great. I have loved living with Jillian. It has been said that we just have a biog slumber party every night and that is a good description of it most nights. I have made some really great friends through the Quantitative Bio program and through some of my other classes. The classes havent been too bad most of the time. I will say that I studied for 3 days straight for my chem exam and I hope it shows in my grade.
I am home for a month...well with family anyway. We are going to FL for the week of New Years with Nanny, Pa, Aunt Jill, Uncle Duane. That will be fun. Nanny and Pa are coming here for Christmas as far as I know. I know there will be some time spent with friends from here. I am going to visit school this week to see people and Ms. Royal. I am going to spend Tuesday shadowing Greg for the day which will be fun.
This break is definately much needed for everyone.

Hope to see many of you over this break and if I don't Merry Christmas and Happy New Year... and if I talk to you I will tell you in person!

It's Christmas Time In Tennessee

So Friday after my morning classes I went to Pigeon Forge to meet Nanny, Pa, Mama Sue, and Uncle Robert. I didn't have Symbiosis since Thursday was our LAST class for the semester...FOREVER for me!!! YAY!!!!!!! Anywho we met and went to lunch which was good. And then we went to "Nana's Motel" for a "rest" before venturing into the cold darkness that was Christmas at Dollywood. After our "rest" we went to Dollywood to see all the lights. It was beautiful. Near the entrance there were elves, reindeer, and santa statues which is where this picture appeared. It appears the internet is going to be weird again so go to my pictures page to see more pictures. We went to see Babes in Toyland which was an impressive show I will give it that but it got rather annoying after a while. Then we went to see Christmas in the Smokies or something like that which was really good. It was a show full of familar and not so familar Christmas carols. It was really good. Before the second show Mama Sue and I decided we should get funnel cakes and watch the carol of the lights after the show. I liked that plan very much and ended up with an entire funnel cake to myself. Then we watched the carol of the lights which was amazing. They had the big tree in the middle of the lake programed to change with the music which was really cool! Yesterday we went shopping for a very short time but Nanny and Pa bought me my Christmas present, a pea coat. I have been looking for one for a long time and yesterday I found the PERFECT one so that is my Christmas from them.

This week is finals week so today through Wed. will be study time. Then I get to go home to see the HFA Choir Concert Thursday night! I am so excited to see everyone again!

For those of you who still come by here for updates, here is a short one.
If you want to know about the suprise party for Christie, go read Jillian's blog. Yes she actually updated. Here are some pictures. Don't worry, I have not gone to the dark side. I just made cakes Christie would like.

This past weekend Ryan and Jillian went home so I had the whole room to myself all weekend (and Monday which made me sad) I went to my first ETSU Men's basketball game which was alright. Not too exciting. After the game I went to Walmart to get groceries for my now famous chili for the SEC football game party I had. There ended up being 6 people over for the game and chili and cheese dip. It was a pretty fun night.

Sunday I went to church and then went shopping for a dress for the BCM Christmas party which was last night. I'm not there yet. I then found out that Jillian was not coming back with Ryan because she was sick. So of course I worried about her.

Monday was life as usual except Jillian wasnt here to walk to class with in the morning. It was pretty sad. But she did come back Monday afternoon and I saw her before I had to go to my LAST 2 HOUR SYMBIOSIS CLASS EVER! I was glad to see that she was/is alive before I had to sit through that class. YAY!! Then I came back and she was asleep until about 8:30 then we talked for a while since we hadn't since Friday.

Yesterday was the BCM Christmas party. I got to wear the dress I got on Sunday. I have tried and tried to get a picture to load on here but for some crazy reason it is being crazy and wont let me put it up. Oh well. Go to the shutterfly account and I will try to put them there tonight. Anyway at the party we exchanged White Elephant gifts and I got a Santa Spud-- Mr Potato Head Santa--totally AWESOME!!!

Today was my last day at work at the Dental Hygiene Clinic for the semester. I still LOVE working there and can't wait to go back in January! My duties include since I dont think many of you have heard them before inputing chart information into a database, filling bags for the students, copying whatever they find, and just about anything else that needs to be done. I LOVE IT!!!! YAY!

Ok Jillian is feeling much better than she did over the weekend which is very good. She has an update on her knees on her blog if you care.

We decorated for Christmas with our door all pretty and a little tree. I will have pictures up on shutterfly sometime of all the stuff blogger wont let me put up for whatever reason.

Hello everyone,
As of yesterday I finally decided that I don't need to be in the Symbiosis class that I have been in this semester for the next two semesters. I thought and cried about the decision a lot and the course isn't living up to expectations. I am afraid that if I stay in I will not know what needs to be known for upper level biology courses which will become very important after fall next year. I will stay in the research portion of the program which is where the stipend money is and because they are interesting. I thought you all might want to know and that this seems to be one of the easier ways to get my thoughts out to whoever cares enough to read even though I am not consistant in my postings.
So I am taking Bio 2 and Calculus 1 next semester along with public speaking and Chemistry 2. I have to throw a line in here about my WONDERFUL AMAZING FANTASTIC roommate for saving the night last night. She was able to get me to calm down enough to think through my schedule for next semester and get everything but my Bio 2 class on the schedule which shouldnt be too hard to get into. I will work on that tomorrow.

Funny story. So last night the people above us were moving furniture around at around 9:30 PM which was fine. We don't really have problems with noise until at least 11 and that is on an early night. So Jillian and I had gone to bed about 11 and talked until after midnight. There was no noise from upstairs or the people across the hall which is VERY rare. After we had said goodnight and sleep was near all of a sudden we heard a screech. Not just one but about 4. I ask Jillian who would move furniture at 12:20 at night. She said if it happened she was going to call the on duty cell. Ok so I'm thinking some of you might know where this is going but anyhow Jillian called. Mentioned our room number and the noise complaint. The RA on the other end of the phone apologized for the noise saying her room was in disaray and she was trying to fix it. IT WAS 12:20 IN THE MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told Jillian she should have mentioned it isnt right to vacume in heels. THE RA was rearranging her stuff! Hopefully she got it how she wants it. At least now we know who we yell at for walking so loudly.

So for Halloween I was the Orbit girl from all the commercials. Imagine me in the cosutme below or wherever it decides to appear this time sick croaky and my voice cracking as I walk around saying in a Brittish accent, "Dirty mouth, clean it up... Orbit!" Yea I was FANTASTIC if I do say so myself. The sick part made my voice crack on the word Orbit it was pretty funny. Hope all is still well with everyone out in blogger land.

Sorry guys for the long time since the last post. There has been a lot going so I haven't gotten a chance to really write on here. So sorry about that and if you don't care then pretend you do and leave me comments. I like them.

So anyway for the update. Fall break was nice, I was able to go home which was nice. Oh I dont think I told you guys about suprising Mom for her birthday. Well as many of you were involved in my 16th suprise most of you all were involved/knew about my suprise plan for mom. I went home on the 5th which is her birthday and met her and Dad in the parking lot of Outback. She had NO IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!! Anywho we ended up going to get pizza for dinner instead of Outback but nonetheless we were together. She didnt cry. But she did almost cry when she got the happy birthday message on her work answering machine that said I was sorry I wouldnt be able to see her for her birthday! It was GREAT!!!!

So fall break I went home and Mom and I went to Crossville for the weekend and I ended up pretty sick on Sunday and sort of on Monday. I was able to do some scrapbooking which was fun since I havent ever done it before and I actually had some pretty good pages come from it. Tuesday I applied for a passport before leaving to come back up to JC. I got it back in less than 2 weeks! I am now free to travel throughout the world. Pretty cool huh!

The weekend after Fall Break the Quirantes came up for Homecoming. I was a Quirante for the weekend which was pretty fun. Homecoming activities were pretty lame but it was nice to see Christie since I had not seen her since August.

Then we spent the next weekend resting from the last weekend. We planned to go to the Step Show on Saturday night but Ryan didnt want to go and he didnt want us to go alone so we rested instead. I was sick most of last week as was Ryan. Last Monday night we had trick or treaters come through the dorm. We had 13 kids but over 115 bags of candy. Any ideas on how to get rid of the bags are welcome.

This weekend I went to Boone, NC for the TIMBER conference with the rest of my TEQB, QB, Symbiosis, whatever I decide to call it at the time buddies. It was way less than exciting but we presented and got a fantastic long sleeve tshirt out of the deal. Ok so this shirt. Jillian told me I am never allowed to wear it in public except next Halloween when I will get to have a pocket protector, suspenders, and tape on my glasses. Ryan said it is worse than an " I was just elected president of the chess club" tshirt. I dont know I think in the right places it can be fun. Like at a math biology conference. Here is a picture. Alright, as of Sunday we had only Gator left in his tank. Well today Ryan and Jillian took Bucky back to the petstore and got...are you ready for this... a lady friend for Gator and a ghost shrimp. The name for the shrimp is Sebastion. He is pretty cool. The lady friend's name is even better than Sebastion, Aunt Jill came up with Ally...like Ally and Gator. (what does a drum and cymbols falling down a cliff sound like? Yea insert that sound here) She is not as colorful as Gator but her tail is bright lime green.

Funny story of the night- When we first put Sebastion into the tank he wanted to hang out in the plant. Well we decided that just wasnt cool so I took the net and tried to get him to the bottom. Well he decided to jump out of the tank and landed on the breakfast table. Of course I screeched as always. So Jillian took

the net and tried to get him back into the net and in the tank. He decided th

at wasnt fun so he jumped off the table onto my rug where he proceded to jump twice. He ended up in the umbrella and then jumped again into my backpack where Jillian was able to sequeste

r him into the net so he could be placed back into the tank. That is one reason he got his name since in The Little Mermaid Sebastion escapes from the kitchen and also he eats sort of lik

e Sebastion would in the movie.

Ok so that is a really lame title. But two of the guppies have now passed on to forever swim in little fishie land. Bucky joined Smokie this morning so Gator is the only one left. I mean what else did we expect? There is a reason FL is the national champion of everything. (sorry to all my family about that comment:) Eugene is still doing well. He has been told he can't die. When he does there WILL be a funeral for him.

On to real life instead of fish life (and death). This week was rough. Jillian and I both had several exams or assignments and were up late most nights. And after last weekend that was not a good plan. Last weekend was fun. I have pictures up on my pictures page. Our cabin of girls were mainly freshman and so Jillian decided we are old. Which I think is sort of funny. But we are 5 and 6 years older than most of our girls and they were going through a lot of tough stuff that I know I never had to deal with. The theme was watercolor so all the girls and Jillian and myself painted watercolors. They all have different stories and mine and Jillian's pretty much blew over the girl's heads but that is ok. We knew they would be over their heads when we painted them but they weren't for the girls, they are for us and the different points we are in in life. The paintings of our girls represented where they are in life and/or something that was revealed to them during the weekend. Jillian and I had a good time being counselors to our girls and had several interesting conversations about all kinds of stuff that can only come from 4 hour car rides. Like the amazingness of leaves!!

An update on Jillian's knee. She is pretty much off the crutches for flat surfaces but still needs them for hills and such. Read her blog for more information on that. Yea that's right she actually updated today!

Hey everyone
Just thought I would post a quick update.
Smokie died on Sunday he was ill when we got back from the retreat and died soon after. NO THERE WAS NO FUNERAL!!!!!!!! Actually we plan to take him back to the petstore. Katie, Emily, and I went to the park this afternoon and there are several pictures of that on my pictures page. As far as the weekend went, it was good, I will go in more depth when I'm not headed to bed and there will be pictures of that too soonish.

Our New Additions

Hey everyone!

Just thought I'd give a quick update for the week. Tuesday Jillian and I added three new guppies to our room. Their names are

Smokie(orange and white, top picture), Gator (blue and orange very pretty, other picture), and Bucky (yellow mostly, top picture (we are the bucs)). Gator is too active really for any good pictures of him. I have more pictures of them on my pictures page. This weekend Jillian and I are "working" at a retreat with her church which will be fun and exciting.

Oh! For those of you who have been keeping up with her knees recently, her brace came in today. She is still on the crutches to walk but can stand and put pressure on it. So hopefuly she will be off the crutches really very soon. The issue most recently appears to be with her kneecap trying to move all over the place.

I think that is all the new and exciting stuff I have for you all.

Quick Go Get A Penny

Hello everyone.

By now many of you know that my Uncle Russell won his 23 year battle with Cancer on Saturday. He is once again running around like he couldn't the past few years of his life.

So the reason for the penny...Did you get one?

When one of Uncle Russ's friends was in a car accident and having a difficult time he ask how Uncle Russ handled it. Uncle Russ reached into his wallet and pulled out a penny. He told his friend to look at the penny and read what it says. Look and read what your penny says now... in the event that you didn't find a penny, it says "In GOD we trust." That was his answer. And that is how he was able to not complain about his situation. And he is with his Lord today and that thought is amazing.

I love him very much and he will be missed but I will see him again soon enough. Thank you for all your prayers and letters and emails.

The best story ever!!!!!!

As I was walking back from TEQB class and dinner last night Emily called me.
Actually let me set the stage just a little. So where I have dinner is about 5 minutes or so from the dorm on a normal walk. The walk is in front of a long row of dorms with the sidewalks being pretty busy at that time of day.
Ok. Back to the story. So Emily called me and she was cracking up. She told me that Teshauna's fish had died. (she is another girl in TEQB). I am a bad person but when she told me that I started cracking up because this is the girl who cant go back to the animal shelter because she cried the one and only time she went. So anyway, I was talking to Emily and then she put Teshauna on the phone and she was actually crying. Like real tears. I felt so bad but I was literally doubled over on the sidewalk laughing so hard. Danna and Stephan(Steph-ON) were walking with me and just didnt understand why I was almost laying in the middle of the sidewalk unable to breathe. Teshauna thought her fish was pregnant until she remembered it was a male. She fed it over half a bag of food because he looked hungry. Oh my goodness, it was crazy. When Emily got back on the phone I ask if I needed to go over there which is all the way across campus. She said that would be best so we could hold a memorial service for him. She also mentioned that I should wear my mourning clothes. So I got back to my room then changed into a black shirt for the occasion.

When I got to their dorm, Katie let me in and we went up to Teshauna's room. Bless her heart, her fish was in a cup with R.I.P. Lucy on the side. (remember this is a male fish) I am such a bad person but I was laughing the entire time. It was so crazy. There were 7 people in attendance and we all somehow got through the service. She had rose petals and she didnt want to flush the fish because if she flushed him she would lose 99 cents. Then all 7 people crammed into a little bathroom for the burial at sea of Lucy. Emily said we should say a prayer for the fish and Teshauna ask "Should we say it to us or to the fish?" Then she proceded to make fish faces at the cup. She dumped Lucy into the toilet and he landed on the side and floated to the bottom. She ask if he was alive. Oh my goodness we all had to look at her and try our hardest not to laugh. Then She decided it would be just too hard for her to flush the fish so Emily did.

When we left the room Katie, who had kept her composure all through the "funeral" lost it. She laughed so hard she was crying. Like big tears. Lots of them streaming down her face. She could hardly walk. Her boyfriend had to guide her down the hall so she wouldnt stop walking.

So that is the story of the over fed fish. I think all of TEQB should go in and get Teshauna that Dr. Seuss book about over feeding the fish.

My Job

My job is AMAZING people. Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Today I worked for 2.5 hours in the Dental Hygiene clinic on campus and met Dr. Hopson who is the dentist employed in the office. I actually worked on all his syllabi, quizes, and exams for his courses. After I am working in there for awhile he is going to give me some "assignments" like making models and such. AHHHH I am so excited about that!!!!! I am so glad I am able to work in the DH clinic.

My TEQB class was fun today. It is going to be a learning experience for us all. Dr. Godbole is going to continue to be our lab advisor so we can keep playing with the ebola sequence. Yay!

And I got into the World History class I was trying to pick up so I am back to 19 hours incase you are keeping tabs.

Seriously a move in post

Sorry the other one was a little brief. Last night I was tired beyond belief. But today I am in the break between Theater and my APS job. As mentioned in the previous post I moved in on Thursday and then had preview activities to follow. Move in was pretty smooth with Mom, Mamaw, and then Jillian and her parents to help. I am trying to get the pictures to show up for everyone but for some reason shutterfly isnt liking me. So I will try to send the link to all you people I know read this so you can follow along with pictures. Main word there "patience" there are several of you. Also my email for school has changed from imail.etsu.edu to GOLDMAIL.etsu.edu. If you need the beginning part leave a comment and I'll email it to you.
Anyway back to my life. Thursday afternoon we had the opening session for preview which was interesting. Then we found our groups-I was in group 15- and had our first small group session. The time spent in the group was pretty much to get to know each other and to build trust among the group. After small group we had a "picnic" in the Ballroom since it had rained. Yes I did say rain.
Friday was busy from 830 until about 11. We had 2 college issues sessions which were interesting, some small group times, and the sidewalk sale at the CPA. After dinner there was a hypnotist which was hilarious! One of our leaders, Allie, was hypnotised which was really funny. I am a beliver now. Then we had Karaoke in the Cave. Yes I actually sang with my fellow TEQBers which was amazing if I do say so myself. The crowd definately got into the performance.
Saturday we had pep brunch in the mini-dome complete with a 3 point contest and slam dunk contest. Then we had the most serious of the College issues sessions "risque business" which was interesting. THen we had small group and free time. During free time Jillian and I went to get Eugene as seen in the last post. He is a beta and a violet color. We have breakfast at our little table with him in the mornings. After free time we had skit night which was really funny. Our skit would have been amazing if the music worked but that was beyond our control. Then we had a final small group time. After that I came back to the room and Jillian and I talked until about 2AM.

I went to worship on the plaza yesterday morning after sleeping in then to the BCM for lunch. I will say that Baptists know how to cook. Then I met with Katie, Emily, and Lauren from TEQB to get rid of the rest of the cake I baked Thursday night since Jillian started a diet yesterday. Oh and Emily and Lauren got to met the "infamous Q" as Amanda calls her. Then Katie Emily and I ran around JC for a bit but nothing was open since it was a Sunday night.

This morning I had Chem lecture which was good and then Theater. I am really going to LOVE the theater class. The professor is great! Now I am off to my APS job in the dental hygiene clinic and then to TEQB for the rest of the day until about 7. Ugh.

Hey everyone
Sorry it has been awhile since the last real update. I have been home for about two weeks since the summer session. Since I've been home I havent stopped seeing people and doing things. I am leaving again tonight to spend the night with Mamaw before going back for movin in tomorrow! I'll try to update again when I get back up there but no promises for anything in the next day or two.

On another note I heard the project week pictures arent showing up and I have no clue why that is happening. I will try to play with it again when I have faster internet connection on campus.

For those who care,
Last week was pretty crazy. It was the last week of lectures. We had a fire alarm and at the moment I really dont care to write about it. So there.

I come home Thursday. This is project week so of course there are pictures on My Pictures page.

An update on Jillian...She went back to the doctor this morning. They think that a muscle isnt devloping right in her Left knee. Meaning that every time she puts pressure on her leg, the knee cap scrapes away at the cartalidge or something like that. So for the action plan at the moment is no brace any longer on that knee for no anyhow and 4 weeks of physical therapy. For those of you counting, she will still have it when she is up here in 2.5 weeks for fall semester.

So yes this blog was mainly to give an update on Jillian so deal. And go check out my pictures of the week.

Hey everyone
Just incase you were wondering or just because you might want to know, I got an APS job in the Dental Hygiene clinic here on campus. I will be working when they are off on lunch meaning I will be trained on how to chart some things and all that. I am excited about it for now at least. The people seem really nice and helpful.
Just thought I'd tell y'all that.

Alright everyone, if you want all the details of the last week you can check out the link to my QB blog. I am really to exausted to put all the class details here too. In summary, the past week has been full of lectures and other things to keep me busy. As I mentioned in the last blog, we went to visit the pound on Monday. Well we went back on Tuesday....and Wednesday. No I don't have a new puppy but the TEqb program almost had a mascot who we planned to name QB.(That is for Quantitative Biology and not Quarter Back.) This week we have tried to not be up as late as we have been the past two. It really didnt work that well. Monday night, the group went to the CPA and I actually rode the bike for about 5 miles and did the eliptical for over a mile. I was proud of myself but of course Katie went longer. Just to prove she could. I was told the other night that the dorm I am staying at in the fall is the athletic dorm so I need to make up a team to be on for when people ask. I don't think my FCA sport (walking up the stairs to get to meetings) will work for that. Speaking of my fall dorm, I went by the other day and it is going to look very nice when we get to move in. The hardwood floors are in and the cabinets seem to be new. Tuesday night was shopping night instead of CPA so Katie, Amanda, and I went to the mall and then hoped for a quiet night without everyone in Amanda and my room. Yea right. No sooner were we back at the dorms before everyone had knocked on our door. We told them all we weren't going to do anything and then Leanna called and said she was bringing her brother and his friend over so we called in the troops and played cards until about 10:30. Wednesday night everyone else went to the CPA but I didnt feel well so I stgayed at the room. It was a quiet night. After Amanda got back we had homework time with Katie and Danna then I talked to Jillan and packed to come home until about 11:30. Way too late but Amanda actually was awake most of the time. Amanda was awake enough to create Jillian's new "superhero" name, Infamous Q. So whoever talks to her next, that is her new name just FYI.
Thursday after classes we went to Zaxby's for dinner before I left to come home.
Aunt Jill came up on Friday and she picked me up to go to lunch with the crew. Who is the crew? You might ask. The crew was Ryan, Jillian, Aunt Jill, Mom, and Me. It was very nice to see Ryan and Jillian. They make me laugh...alot. I had to take Jillian all the school supplies for the Philippines mission trip next year.
This week so far has been pretty laid back but I am exhausted and haven't gotten a chance to rest thus far. I am going home again this weekend since we are going to ORNL on Friday so maybe I'll be able to sleep a little then.

After lunch Aunt Jill, Mom and I went over to the hospital to see Uncle Russ. He was looking pretty rough. He went home yesterday so that is good.

Dad got a job selling camo at Bass Pro Shop. I think that is really funny but I think he likes it. He started on Monday and said he didnt realize there are so many variations of camo.

And lastly for a knee report. Jillian said her knees still hurt and she is still wearing the braces on them both. She goes back to the doctor next week on the 7th. I'm thinking that will make the next update.

Oh just FYI my pictures will be updated with some graduation pictures and other senior year stuff very soon if you want to check those out. And I got a new camera over the weekend so maybe I will actually have pictures from now on.
